The 365 Typography Calendar has been produced by Studio Hinrichs (and Pentagram Design before that) for the past two decades. It is an iconic piece of design that champions typography and brings together typefaces from designers all over the world.
The Challenge
Create an updated version of the calendar that would appeal to both a design and lay audience, with both classic and contemporary typeface designs.
The Solution
I researched and collated typefaces that combined both new, modern styles, and existing, classic fonts. These were combined throughout the calendar to create an interesting pacing, juxtaposing intricate, ornamental typefaces with more minimalist designs, and culminating in the most elaborate font to celebrate the end of the calendar year.
Outcomes
The end result is a beautiful, classic example of graphic design that continues the calendar’s legacy. It was sent to a mailing list of ~500 contacts in the design industry, and was also available for sale on Amazon and at the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design gift store, among others.
